Dexter was our first furbaby. It was love at first sight and it made us wonder why it had taken so long to add a dog to our family. We were smitten, so in love and totally devoted to this four legged, stinky and totally mischievous little pooch. Therefore it made so much sense after two years to add another adorable dog to our family!
We didn’t set off to try and find a matching one to Dexter, but when Archie cheekily trotted out of his pen towards us – the decision was made there and then….he was the one!
Archie adored Dexter from the start and Dexter adopted his role of big brother immediately. The bond between them was amazing – which made everything so much easier for us!
We often get asked if the boys are related. They are actually not related directly, but somewhere down the line they have the same grandparent!
They are both orange roan and have similar markings, however, Dexter has very soft silky fur, whereas Archie’s is courser and curlier!
Archie was 6 this week, which means we’ve had the pleasure of him in our family for almost that length of time.
Love them both dearly – they have enhanced our lives for the better and I can only hope we’ve done the same for them ❤️❤️❤️
The weather wasn’t great – there was a bracing wind, the awful drizzle which does nothing for your hair and the temperature was freezing, but that wasn’t going to stop us!
We headed for Tynemouth, somewhere different and somewhere I’d not been in many many years. We loved it!
We played ball, chase, ball and chase, paddled in rock pools, then went back to playing ball again, with a bit of digging every now and then! It was exhausting just watching them!
Archie and Dexter were in their element. It made me wish we lived nearer the coast, so we could take them more often…
We all had a fab day out and loved every minute. The boys slept like logs all the way home in the car and were very tired most of the following day too – that good old sea air does the trick every time!
Recently I bought a Jawbone Up. For anyone who doesn’t know what these are, I shall give a very short synopsis! A Jawbone Up is quite simply a fitness gadget you wear on your wrist. It somehow tracks the number of steps walked throughout the day and records how well you slept during the night. I never imagined how obsessed I would become with this piece of black plastic round my wrist!
Now, I am determined to walk at least 10,000 steps a day! (Apparently this is a good average number). This is also great for the dogs, as they are dragged out for longer walks, whilst helping me to achieve my target. Obviously they are oblivious to my sudden keenness in striding out in all weathers…but I’m sure (I know) they love it!
I look at them running around the field (well Archie anyway!) and wish I had their energy – but at least I’m trying!
Dexter is such a sweetheart, plodding along in the field. If he was a human he would be like me (preferring to walk rather than run) or vice versa – if I was a dog I would definitely be more like him than Archie, (who just loves to run – all the time if he could get the chance!) I’d be the plodder!
Archie runs so fast at times, he seems to have ear malfunctions!! Bless.
I say long may it last! I ended up walking round and round the living room yesterday as I only needed a few extra steps to make it to 10,000……is that ridiculous?
It’s is awfully hard work working in a pet shop….the quality control inspections which are conducted on a daily basis, the product testing (which is often carried out without being asked!) and all the meeting and greeting of customers, makes for very tired dogs in the afternoons. Even more so after a long river walk at lunchtime!
So this afternoon, there hasn’t been a peep out of either!
Well except when the camera clicked, and some very tired eyes opened!
