We had a beautiful walk this morning. It was very cold, frosty and fairly foggy, until the sun started to break through. One the sun made a slight appearance, the lighting was perfect and mum’s phone camera was at the ready (of course!).
We took the balls with us too, which Archie particularly enjoyed. I preferred to waddle along, taking in all the fresh new smells around this morning.
This is me posing. Mum was standing in front holding a treat, which is why I was so obliging. Just wish she didn’t take so long though – crikey, its cold on one’s bottom when it’s frosty!
This is Archie posing. He didn’t need a treat holding in front of him – the ball was enough of an enticement!
We did enjoy ourselves so much. Papa (in the background) had lots of fun too, although he didn’t move around as much as we did….haha! Mum called him lazy!!
One day last week, we woke up to snow! This was quite a surprise, as we seem to have our own micro climate where we live and when everyone else has snow, we usually have none!
How exciting it was too!
Everything smells so different in the snow – we both love it!
Even Dexter gets a new lease of life and runs around in excitement!
Mum tried to take photos of us this morning, but we were just too giddy to stay still enough for a good picture.
At lunchtime, we walked to the park in Ripon (with mum) and met a new friend. This ‘friend’ was very icy and didn’t move or speak at all. I (Archie) was a bit scared of him but Dexter loved him and even showed his love, by cocking his leg on him 😂😂😂
We are so lucky to have many wonderful places for walkies in Ripon. Down by the river has to be one of our favourites, but when time is of the essence – mum frog marches us to Paddys Park and we charge round chasing ball after ball!
Sometimes we run around so much, we need a quick lie down to recharge our batteries!
Dexter always plays the cute card, to try and get us extra treats!
Recently I bought a Jawbone Up. For anyone who doesn’t know what these are, I shall give a very short synopsis! A Jawbone Up is quite simply a fitness gadget you wear on your wrist. It somehow tracks the number of steps walked throughout the day and records how well you slept during the night. I never imagined how obsessed I would become with this piece of black plastic round my wrist!
Now, I am determined to walk at least 10,000 steps a day! (Apparently this is a good average number). This is also great for the dogs, as they are dragged out for longer walks, whilst helping me to achieve my target. Obviously they are oblivious to my sudden keenness in striding out in all weathers…but I’m sure (I know) they love it!
I look at them running around the field (well Archie anyway!) and wish I had their energy – but at least I’m trying!
Dexter is such a sweetheart, plodding along in the field. If he was a human he would be like me (preferring to walk rather than run) or vice versa – if I was a dog I would definitely be more like him than Archie, (who just loves to run – all the time if he could get the chance!) I’d be the plodder!
Archie runs so fast at times, he seems to have ear malfunctions!! Bless.
I say long may it last! I ended up walking round and round the living room yesterday as I only needed a few extra steps to make it to 10,000……is that ridiculous?
I seem to talk about the weather on a fairly regular basis! Usually because it’s not been great! Yesterday was no exception. Thankfully the rain had stopped but the wind…….well there was definitely one little pooch who was not impressed with it! His Dumbo impression is just priceless!
Let’s hope for less wind, less rain and some nice bright dry days soon 😀
