We are sorry we haven’t updated our blog in a while…..things are quite busy in the shop at the moment and mum has been tearing round like a headless chicken (?)
That’s what she claims, anyway!!
We do hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year (just in case we don’t get chance to post for a little while!)
Christmas is slowly coming to the shop. This can only mean endless days of being dressed up and photographed for all the social media sites mum uses! On the plus side, we usually get extra treats if we’re really good 😍
What on earth are these silly things? Why can’t mum model them herself?
I am not impressed!
This is getting very worrying. How many more does she have? We will be demanding extra treats for this!
What! I’m now a reindeer – great……. 😬😬😬
We think this is the final straw. Dexter in pyjamas!! 😂😂😂😂
***update…. we have been rewarded with extra sausages so we are very happy. Also lots of people have said we are such good boys – which makes mum happy too ❤️ ***
We have our good friend Lola staying with us for two whole weeks! Her humans have gone off to Spain and said she could have her own holiday at ours….
So, Archie and I have been happily teaching her all sorts of things, which we are sure her mum and dad will appreciate when they are home.
Firstly, Archie taught her all about rabbit holes and how important it is to poke your head down them as far as it will go!
There must be one here somewhere!
Secondly, we taught Lola how exciting cow pats are, even the old ones. Lola carried this one to the gate, until our mum said she had to leave it in the field.
Yummy cow pat!
I very proudly showed Lola the muddy puddle and explained how tasty the water was to drink. She joined in very quickly.
Mmmm, this water is so tasty!I also taught Lola how to play tug of war. She was very good at this game and we had a lot of fun (of course I had to win 😉).
Tug of war…..
Finally, we taught Lola how nice it is to curl up close to each other at bedtime ❤️
We all got rather excited when some new toys arrived in the shop. Some more than others!
New toy, yeH!
So, feeling very kind and generous one morning, I gave the boys a new toy to play with. This is what happened within the space of two mnutes!
Oh no, look what happened!
They had enormous fun for those two minutes, but I have to say I was hoping it would have lasted long enough to actually make it home!
Although we are only a very small pet shop, we do have an upstairs showroom, with the larger items we sell, such as – dog beds, fish tanks, bird and small animal cages. We also have cold water and tropical aquariums, with a good range of fish.
It is Dexters job in the morning, to check the fish are all swimming around happily! He particularly loves to stand and watch the goldfish. If I ever lose him for a while in the shop, he can often be found lying in front of the tanks, mesmerised!
Archie on the other hand, waits patiently for any flakes of fish food I might drop as I feed the fish. He is my hoover and will swiftly vacuum any such delights from the floor!
Dexter just making sure the fish are all just fine! What helpful pooches I have 😀
I am Jane, the proud owner of a small independent pet shop in the beautiful little city of Ripon, North Yorkshire. We are very centrally situated just off the Market square and offer a friendly welcome to all who pass through our door. We encourage our four legged customers to bring their owners and always have water and treats available for the pooches.
I took over the shop in 2011 and although it is very hard work I love my job to bits. With the help of my two lovely assistants, we open 7 days a week throughout the summer.
Please say hello to Archie and Dexter, my two adorable orange roan cocker spaniels.
They come to ‘help’ in the shop most days. ‘Help’ in the eyes of a spaniel, means tidying up the sausages after ‘accidently’ pulling the box off the shelf, tasting the suet pellets to ensure they are still fresh and nagging customers for pats and treats!
Please follow my blog for lots of entertaining pet related posts, inside information into the world of pet retail, product testing by our own inside testers and lots and lots of lovely photos!
